Motion data is recorded information about movement, such as positions, speed, orientation, timing, or force. It can come from cameras, motion-capture systems, wearables, robot sensors, or industrial telemetry. In robotics and physical AI, motion data is used to study how a task is performed, reproduce the movement in a machine, or validate that an action was completed correctly.
In cyber security, motion data matters because it can reveal sensitive behavior and operational know-how. If an attacker steals or alters it, they may be able to copy a process, poison training data, or make a robot follow unsafe instructions. Defenders protect motion data with access controls, integrity checks, and provenance tracking so they can trust where the data came from and how it was used. It is also useful for detecting anomalies, such as movements that do not match an approved procedure.
