Modules cache

A local storage area where dynamically loaded code is kept for reuse.

A modules cache is a local storage area where software saves dynamically loaded modules for later reuse. Instead of fetching or rebuilding code every time, an application keeps a copy on disk so imports and plugin loading are faster and more reliable. In machine learning tools, this may include custom Python files pulled from a remote model repository.

From a security perspective, the cache matters because it can become a persistence point. If attacker-controlled code is written there before a trust check, the system may leave behind executable Python even when the user has not approved it. Defenders should treat module caches as sensitive writable locations: restrict permissions, verify what gets cached, and clear or audit cached files before reuse. A cache is performance infrastructure, but it can also become an attack surface.
