A mock flight is a live rehearsal of airline passenger workflows before a new system goes live. It simulates real airport and onboard operations such as check-in, bag handling, seat changes, boarding, special assistance, and customer-service handoffs, but in a controlled test environment.
In cyber security, mock flights matter because they validate how a complex platform behaves under realistic conditions. Large migrations often fail not from a single bug, but from mismatched data, broken integrations, weak access controls, or incomplete rollback plans. A mock flight helps teams spot those issues before customers are affected, and it gives operators a chance to practice incident response, logging, and manual fallback procedures. Attackers can exploit rushed cutovers when controls are untested, so rehearsals reduce the chance that an outage, spoofed transaction, or process error turns into a broader disruption.
