Mobile fleet

A group of phones or tablets managed together by an organization.

A mobile fleet is the set of phones and tablets an organization manages as one environment. These devices are usually enrolled in mobile device management (MDM) or unified endpoint management (UEM) systems so IT can enforce passcodes, encryption, app allowlists, VPN settings, and remote wipe. Treating devices as a fleet lets defenders track inventory, patch levels, ownership, and compliance instead of handling each handset separately.

It matters because mobile attacks often target scale: one phishing link, malicious app, or abused cloud account can affect many enrolled devices. Fleet management also creates defensive leverage, since security teams can push updates, block risky configurations, and retire old devices before support ends. If a vendor changes product direction or update cadence, fleet risk rises quickly because many devices may depend on the same patch and support chain.
