Manual validation is the human review step that follows an automated security finding. A researcher, analyst, or developer tests the result by reading code, reproducing behavior, and checking whether the issue is real, reachable, and exploitable. It helps separate true vulnerabilities from false positives, weak hypotheses, or bugs that only exist under unrealistic conditions.
In cyber security, this step matters because automated tools and AI agents can scan faster than people, but they cannot always judge context, permissions, session state, or business logic. In mobile apps, for example, manual validation may confirm whether location access can truly be abused, whether an account takeover path works, or whether a warning only appears in a test environment. Defenders use it before patching, prioritizing alerts, or disclosing findings, so remediation effort is focused on real risk.
