Knox Vault is Samsung’s hardware-isolated security subsystem for protecting highly sensitive data such as cryptographic keys, credentials, and device secrets. Instead of leaving those materials in normal app or operating-system memory, Knox Vault stores and processes them in a separate protected environment with tighter access controls.
This matters because mobile attacks often target the main operating system through malware, privilege escalation, or physical compromise. If an attacker breaks into Android, hardware isolation can still keep the most valuable secrets out of reach. In enterprise defenses, Knox Vault helps support secure authentication, encrypted storage, and device trust features. It does not make a phone invulnerable, but it can raise the cost of stealing keys and reduce the damage from a compromised OS.
