Inline enforcement

Automated policy action, such as blocking content, based on a security verdict.

Inline enforcement is the automatic application of a security policy while traffic or content is still being inspected. Instead of only logging a result, the system uses a verdict to take action immediately, such as blocking a file, denying a URL, quarantining a message, or dropping a connection.

This matters because speed changes risk. If a sandbox or scanner can return a fast, trustworthy verdict, a gateway or firewall can stop malicious content before it reaches users or endpoints. In real defenses, inline enforcement is common in email security, web filtering, and network sandboxing. In attacks, defenders rely on it to interrupt delivery of malware, phishing payloads, and command-and-control traffic. The tradeoff is that enforcement decisions must be accurate and fast; slow or noisy verdicts can delay traffic or cause false blocks.
