iGaming is online gambling delivered through digital platforms, such as casino games, betting apps, and real-money gaming sites. Because money, identity, and location are all involved, iGaming systems must do more than serve content: they must verify users, enforce licensing rules, and keep detailed records of access and transactions.
In cyber security, iGaming matters because it is a high-value target for fraud, account takeover, bonus abuse, payment abuse, and evasion of geo-restrictions. Operators often rely on KYC checks, device fingerprinting, geolocation, and policy engines to decide whether a player can log in or place a wager. Defenses also depend on audit logs, risk scoring, and strong access controls so the platform can prove compliance and spot manipulation. When these controls fail, the result can be illegal access, chargebacks, or trust damage.
