HTTP request analysis

Reviewing web request details to spot suspicious or unusual patterns.

HTTP request analysis is the review of web requests to understand what a client is doing and whether the traffic looks normal, automated, or malicious. Analysts inspect elements such as the method, path, headers, cookies, parameters, timing, and repetition patterns. These details can reveal scripted behavior, credential stuffing, scanning, scraping, or attempts to hide behind seemingly legitimate browser traffic.

This matters because IP addresses alone are easy to rotate or disguise. Request analysis adds context that can link related activity across different sources, especially when combined with logs and browser signals. Defenders use it to build bot-detection rules, spot anomalies, and investigate suspicious sessions. Attackers, in turn, try to imitate ordinary request structure to blend in, which is why deeper inspection of HTTP behavior is a core part of modern web security.
