GPU acceleration

Using graphics processors to speed up compute-heavy simulation workloads.

GPU acceleration is the use of graphics processing units to speed up workloads that require many parallel calculations. Unlike a CPU, which is optimized for a smaller number of complex tasks, a GPU can run thousands of similar operations at once. That makes it useful for simulation, machine learning, cryptography research, image analysis, and other compute-heavy jobs.

In cyber security, GPU acceleration matters because it changes both defense and attack economics. Defenders use it to run large-scale simulations, analyze logs faster, and test security tools locally without sending sensitive data to external services. Attackers also use GPUs to brute-force passwords, crack hashes, or scale password-guessing and cryptographic searches much faster than with CPUs alone. For this reason, organizations should treat GPU clusters and containers as part of their security boundary: they need access control, patching, monitoring, and strict data handling just like any other high-value compute system.
