Generative AI-assisted scripting is the use of AI tools to draft, rewrite, or adapt scripts for an operator’s workflow. In cyber security, that often means quickly producing code for reconnaissance, log parsing, credential checking, data collection, or simple automation. The script still needs human judgment, but AI can reduce the time needed to build and modify tooling.
This matters because attackers value speed and flexibility. A script that would take an operator an hour to write can be produced or adjusted in minutes, making it easier to scale scans, test stolen credentials, or pivot between environments. Defenders use the same idea for benign purposes, such as accelerating incident-response queries, detection engineering, and repetitive admin tasks. The security risk is not that AI creates perfect malware; it is that it lowers the cost of operational tradecraft and helps threat actors move faster after initial access.
