Game port

A version of a game adapted to run on a different device or platform.

A game port is a version of a game adapted to run on a different device or platform than the one it was originally designed for. Porting may require changes to the game’s code, controls, graphics, and performance so it can work with the target system’s hardware and software.

Ports can run on platforms with very different capabilities, including resource-constrained embedded devices. In cybersecurity, the process highlights that devices designed for a specific purpose may still be programmable platforms. A game running on an unusual device is not, by itself, evidence of a vulnerability; defenders should instead assess the device’s firmware, update mechanisms, and exposure to unauthorized code.
