FWA, or Fixed Wireless Access, is a broadband service that delivers part of the connection over radio instead of a fully wired last mile. A home or business may still connect to nearby infrastructure, but the final segment travels through the air and is affected by signal strength, congestion, interference, and local conditions.
In cyber security, FWA matters because the wireless segment expands the attack surface and can make availability and trust harder to guarantee. Poorly secured radios, weak authentication, or misconfigured equipment can expose traffic or disrupt service. Defenders reduce risk with strong encryption, authenticated management, spectrum and signal monitoring, resilient failover, and continuous verification of performance claims. In practice, FWA is often used where speed of deployment matters, but security teams must treat it as a context-dependent access layer, not a fixed, predictable wire.
