Full-chain exploit

A multi-stage attack that links several vulnerabilities to move from initial access toward deeper compromise.

A full-chain exploit is a multi-stage attack that combines several vulnerabilities and bypasses into one working path. Instead of relying on a single bug, the attacker links steps together: one flaw may provide initial code execution or web entry, another may escape a sandbox or gain higher privileges, and later stages may establish persistence or broader device control.

This matters because a single exploit chain can turn a routine website visit, document open, or app interaction into a deeper compromise. In practice, full-chain exploits are often used against high-value targets and frequently target specific software versions, where each stage covers a different defensive layer. Defenders reduce risk by patching quickly, hardening devices, limiting exposed features, and using protections such as mobile lockdown modes when appropriate. The key idea is composition: the danger is not just one vulnerability, but how multiple weaknesses are stitched together into a complete attack path.
