Fraud workflow

The sequence of tools and steps scammers use to carry out deception.

A fraud workflow is the sequence of tools, accounts, messages, and manual steps scammers use to carry out deception. It may include sourcing targets, generating convincing text, moving victims to a chat app or payment page, and rotating identities when one account is blocked. The workflow is the operational chain, not just the final scam message.

This matters in cyber security because defenses often fail when they focus on a single tool instead of the whole abuse path. A workflow can cross email, messaging platforms, AI assistants, fake websites, and payment services while blending in with normal traffic. Security teams look for repeated patterns, shared infrastructure, reused content, and account-linking signals to disrupt the chain early. In practice, stopping one step can collapse the entire fraud operation.
