Epoxy

A material that hardens through a curing reaction after its parts are mixed.

Epoxy is a two-part resin or adhesive that hardens after its components are mixed and a curing reaction begins. Once cured, it forms a strong, durable solid that resists heat, moisture, and vibration. The curing step is the key feature: before it sets, epoxy can be shaped or applied; afterward, it becomes difficult to remove without damage.

In cyber security, epoxy matters because it is often used to secure or conceal hardware. Defenders use it for potting chips, sealing enclosures, and protecting sensitive components from tampering. Attackers may also exploit it to fasten covert implants, hide modifications, or make unauthorized hardware changes harder to inspect. Because cured epoxy is hard to reverse cleanly, it can complicate forensic analysis, physical repair, and device recovery.
