Cross-platform depth

the ability to support different operating systems and device classes from one console.

Cross-platform depth is the ability of a management or security platform to support different operating systems and device classes from a single console. In a UEM or EDR product, that means administrators can apply enrollment rules, configuration profiles, patching, and access controls across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and other endpoint types without switching tools.

It matters in cyber security because mixed fleets are normal, and weak support for one platform can create blind spots. Attackers often look for those gaps: if one device class cannot receive the same controls, it may miss updates, monitoring, or policy enforcement. Defenders value cross-platform depth because it helps keep security rules consistent, reduces manual work, and makes it easier to enforce least privilege and compliance across the whole environment.
