Coordination structure

An organized channel for sharing alerts, priorities, and response duties.

A coordination structure is an organized channel for sharing alerts, priorities, and response duties among defenders, vendors, sector partners, or government teams. It defines who receives information, who validates it, how fast it moves, and who is responsible for acting on it. In cyber security, this is the difference between scattered messages and a repeatable response process.

Coordination structures matter because attacks often cross organizational boundaries. A phishing campaign, ransomware wave, or supply-chain issue may need one team to detect it, another to notify partners, and others to patch, block, or investigate. When the structure is clear, warnings travel faster and duplicated effort drops. When it is weak, important details are delayed, lost, or treated as low priority, reducing the value of threat intelligence and slowing defense.
