Continuous cybersecurity

A security model that extends beyond periodic checks toward ongoing monitoring and validation.

Continuous cybersecurity is a security model that replaces occasional audits or one-time assessments with ongoing monitoring, testing, and validation. Instead of assuming controls remain effective after a quarterly review, teams continuously check assets, configurations, identities, logs, vulnerabilities, and control behavior as systems change.

This matters because modern environments change too quickly for periodic checks to keep up. New cloud workloads, software updates, exposed APIs, and credential misuse can create risk between audits. In defense, continuous cybersecurity uses automated scanning, configuration drift detection, threat intelligence, and repeated security testing to catch problems early and verify that controls still work. In attacks, adversaries benefit from stale configurations and unmonitored changes; continuous validation reduces that gap by making exposure visible sooner and helping defenders respond before weak points are exploited.
