Connected services are systems or tools that an organization relies on but that may be operated by another provider or shared across a wider organization. Examples include identity platforms, billing systems, electronic health records, and cloud-hosted applications.
They matter because an incident affecting one service can disrupt other workflows or expose information beyond the initially named organization. Attackers may target a third-party provider or use compromised accounts to reach connected systems. Defenders should map dependencies, review access controls and account activity, and check relevant logs when investigating a suspected incident. A victim listing alone does not establish that connected services were affected; confirm the scope with evidence before drawing conclusions.
