Competenze sottoutilizzate

skills that are present but not fully applied, lowering the return on training.

Competenze sottoutilizzate are skills that exist in a team but are not used to their full effect. In cyber security, this often means analysts, engineers, or incident responders have knowledge of scripting, threat hunting, reverse engineering, or cloud security, but spend most of their time on routine tasks. The result is lower return on training and a weaker security posture.

This matters because attackers benefit when defensive expertise is not turned into action. A SOC may have people who can automate triage, but still rely on manual review; a blue team may understand attacker behavior, but never use that knowledge to tune detections. Good defenders reduce this waste by matching skills to roles, rotating staff through higher-value work, and building workflows that let expertise improve monitoring, detection, and response.
