Code-to-cloud is a security approach that connects software source code, CI/CD delivery pipelines, cloud configuration, and runtime behavior into one risk model. Instead of treating each layer separately, it traces an application from the commit that introduced a flaw to the cloud resource or live service where that flaw could matter.
This matters because many security findings are only useful when placed in context. A vulnerable dependency in code may be low priority if the affected path is unreachable, but it becomes urgent if the service is internet-facing, over-privileged, or actively exposed in production. In practice, code-to-cloud security helps teams correlate SAST, dependency, container, IaC, CSPM, and runtime telemetry, then route the right fix to the right owner. Defenders use it to reduce noise, prioritize real exploit paths, and keep remediation aligned with how applications actually run.
