A Code of Practice is a voluntary framework that turns broad AI transparency obligations into practical controls. In this context, it helps organizations decide how to label AI-generated or AI-altered content, record provenance, handle exceptions, and document human review in a way that can be implemented across products and workflows.
For cyber security, this matters because synthetic media is often used in phishing, impersonation, fraud, and misinformation. A good code can support defenses by encouraging machine-readable marks, consistent disclosures, and audit trails that security tools can inspect automatically. It also gives compliance teams evidence that transparency is not just a policy statement but a measurable process. The limit is that voluntary codes do not enforce themselves, so labels and provenance signals still need to survive reposting, clipping, and re-sharing across different platforms.
