Cloud-native automation

Patch orchestration delivered through cloud services, often with centralized policy control.

Cloud-native automation is patch orchestration delivered through cloud services, usually with centralized policy control. Instead of running every update job from local servers, the platform coordinates scanning, approval, deployment, reboot handling, and reporting from a remote control plane. This makes it easier to manage distributed laptops, servers, and off-network devices without maintaining much on-premises infrastructure.

In cyber security, it matters because patch speed directly affects exposure to known vulnerabilities. Good automation can shrink the time between a vendor fix and a protected endpoint, but it must be governed carefully. Defenders use policy rings, maintenance windows, exception lists, and rollback controls to avoid outages. Attackers value these platforms too: if they compromise the admin account or misconfigure policy, they may push malicious changes or delay critical patches across many devices at once. Cloud-native automation is powerful, but it concentrates trust in the management layer.
