CI means continuous integration: the automated process that builds and tests code whenever developers submit changes. It is a core part of modern software delivery because it catches broken builds, failing tests, and unsafe changes before they reach production.
In cyber security, CI is valuable because it lets defensive checks run early and often. Security tools can scan pull requests, validate configuration, look for vulnerable dependencies, and flag risky code patterns during the build pipeline. This helps teams find problems such as unsafe input handling, broken authorization logic, or incomplete patching before attackers can exploit them. CI is not a replacement for human review, but it makes security part of the normal development workflow instead of a separate manual step.
