Bulk access means querying or downloading many records from a database in a short period or through a broad export. It can be legitimate, such as a scheduled report, but unexpected large-scale access may indicate an account compromise, misuse of privileges, or an attempt to collect personal data.
Defenders monitor for unusual query volumes, large exports, and access patterns that differ from normal work. Rate limits, least-privilege permissions, approval for sensitive exports, and alerts can help detect or prevent excessive access. In a database holding app member details, bulk access is a useful warning signal; by itself, it does not establish how data was exposed or prove that an attack occurred.
