Browser-side assembly

A delivery method where the browser helps combine smaller components into a final payload.

Browser-side assembly is a delivery technique where a web page or script makes the victim’s browser combine smaller pieces into a final malicious payload. Instead of downloading one complete file, the attack may fetch fragments, decode them, and join them in memory. The result is often a payload that never exists as a clean, full file on disk.

This matters because many defenses still rely on static file inspection, hashes, and reputation checks. If the browser builds the payload late in the chain, those controls may see only harmless-looking pieces. In real attacks, defenders may instead need to watch browser behavior, script activity, unusual memory use, worker creation, and blocked downloads. Browser-side assembly is also common in malvertising and other web-based delivery chains that abuse normal browsing to hide malicious intent.
