Behavioral data

Information about actions or patterns of conduct that can be used to rank, monitor, or allocate work.

Behavioral data is information about how a person acts over time, such as work patterns, login habits, task completion speed, app usage, response times, or shift activity. In workplace systems, this data can be used to rank employees, monitor productivity, or decide how work is assigned.

In cyber security, behavioral data matters because it is both sensitive and influential. If an attacker steals or alters it, they may bias scheduling, trigger unfair reviews, or hide malicious activity inside normal-looking user behavior. Weak access control, poor logging, or unchecked automation can let unauthorized staff or compromised systems tamper with these records. Defenders protect it with least-privilege access, audit logs, integrity checks, retention limits, and human review of high-impact decisions. In regulated AI and HR tools, the key question is not only whether the data exists, but whether it can be trusted and explained.
