Badge security is the practice of protecting event credentials so they cannot be copied, shared, photographed, or used by the wrong person. At conferences and other controlled-access events, badges are more than name tags: they can gate entry, indicate privileges, and help staff identify who belongs where.
It matters because physical credentials are easy to misuse. An exposed badge can be cloned from a photo, borrowed by an impersonator, or scanned to reveal data that helps phishing and social engineering. Strong badge security includes visible wearing policies, tamper-resistant design, unique IDs, photo verification, and clear rules against sharing or displaying badges publicly. For defenders, it is a basic access-control measure; for attackers, it is an opportunity when people leave credentials unattended or trust appearances too quickly.
