Async HttpClient

A non-blocking HTTP client design that handles requests and responses without tying up the calling thread.

An Async HttpClient is a non-blocking HTTP client that sends requests and processes responses without holding the calling thread open. Instead of waiting synchronously for each network round trip, it uses callbacks, futures, or event-driven I/O so one application thread can manage many connections efficiently. This design is common in high-throughput services, API gateways, scanners, and microservices.

In cyber security, async clients matter because performance features can change the trust model. If TLS verification, hostname checks, redirects, or proxy handling are implemented incorrectly in the async path, an attacker may be able to impersonate a server, intercept traffic in a man-in-the-middle position, or influence how credentials and tokens are sent. Defenders should review which client mode a framework actually uses, test invalid certificates and mismatched hostnames, and confirm that security checks behave the same way in async and synchronous code paths.
