Android endpoint

a connected device running Android that needs software and access control.

An Android endpoint is any connected device that runs Android and is used as part of a business process, such as a payment terminal, kiosk, handheld scanner, or tablet. Because it is a full computing device, it needs operating-system updates, app control, authentication, and network restrictions just like a laptop or server.

In cyber security, Android endpoints matter because they often handle sensitive data while sitting in exposed physical locations. Attackers may target them with malicious apps, sideloaded software, weak management settings, stolen credentials, or outdated Android versions. Defenders reduce risk with mobile device management, patching, app allowlisting, least-privilege access, encrypted communications, and monitoring for unusual behavior. In a payment environment, the endpoint becomes part of the trust chain, so device integrity directly affects transaction security and business continuity.
