AI-assisted phishing is phishing that uses AI tools to draft, rewrite, translate, or personalize deceptive messages. Attackers use it to make emails, chat messages, or fake login prompts sound more natural, match a target’s language, and reflect a victim’s job, organization, or current events.
This matters because phishing success depends on trust, and AI can raise the quality and scale of social engineering without requiring strong writing skills. In real attacks, AI may help create believable lures, localize them for specific regions, or rapidly test different wordings. Defenders should look for strong email filtering, user verification habits, phishing-resistant MFA, and sign-in monitoring, because a convincing message can still lead to credential theft, account takeover, and cloud mailbox abuse.
