AdministratorAccess is an AWS managed policy that grants full access to AWS services and resources. In practice, it lets an IAM user, role, or other identity perform almost any action in the account, from creating infrastructure to changing security settings and billing-related controls.
This matters because it removes the guardrails that least-privilege design is meant to enforce. If an access key or role with AdministratorAccess is exposed, an attacker can often enumerate data, create backdoors, disable defenses, or provision costly resources very quickly. Defenders should treat this policy as highly sensitive, restrict its use to rare administrative needs, and monitor it closely in logs such as CloudTrail. In secure AWS environments, broad admin access is usually temporary, tightly approved, and paired with strong key rotation, MFA for console access, and careful review of API activity.
