An accountability record is information preserved so that decisions, actions, or results can later be reviewed. In digital procurement, it may include records of contract milestones, costs, approvals, and delivery checks, helping buyers compare what was promised with what was completed.
In cybersecurity, accountability records support oversight by showing who accessed a system, changed data, or approved an action. Audit logs and other reviewable records can help investigate suspicious activity, verify that controls were followed, and improve decision-making. They are useful only when they are sufficiently complete, accurate, protected from tampering, and retained for an appropriate period.
