An account-connection flow is the authorization step where a user grants a third-party app or service access to an existing business account, often through OAuth or a similar consent screen. Instead of creating a new password, the user approves a link between identities and may allow the app to read data, create content, or act on the account’s behalf.
In cyber security, this flow matters because it is a privilege-grant event, not a harmless click. Attackers can impersonate trusted services, abuse consent prompts, or trick users into approving overly broad permissions. Defenders should review requested scopes, prefer phishing-resistant authentication for the primary account, and monitor connected apps, token issuance, and session activity so suspicious links can be revoked quickly.
