ABIN is Brazil’s federal intelligence agency, responsible for collecting and analyzing information relevant to national security. In cyber security, that role often extends beyond traditional espionage to threat awareness: tracking hostile actors, identifying infrastructure at risk, and helping authorities understand which warnings matter most.
ABIN matters because modern attacks on critical infrastructure rarely affect one system alone. A central intelligence body can correlate phishing campaigns, malware activity, network scans, and other indicators into a broader threat picture. In defense, that helps operators prioritize alerts, prepare incident response, and coordinate with government partners. In attacks, adversaries may try to evade detection, exploit gaps between agencies and operators, or target the communication channels used to share warnings. ABIN therefore represents the coordination layer between intelligence and operational defense.
