Workflow resilience

the ability of routine business tasks to keep running during disruption.

Workflow resilience is the ability of routine business tasks to keep running, or recover quickly, when something disrupts normal operations. Those tasks may include copying data in spreadsheets, approving payments, processing tickets, or syncing files between systems. In cybersecurity, resilience matters because a secure environment is not useful if everyday work stops whenever software changes, a server fails, or an attacker causes a service outage.

It shows up in both attacks and defenses. Ransomware, phishing, and destructive malware often aim to interrupt work as much as to steal data. Defenders build workflow resilience with backups, redundant systems, tested rollback plans, offline procedures, and change validation after patches or upgrades. The goal is not just to block threats, but to keep critical business functions usable during disruption and restore them fast if they fail.
