Workflow integrity is the reliability of the steps people use to review, verify, approve, and act on information. In cyber security, it matters because many decisions depend on ordinary business processes: reading a report, checking a document, approving a change, or following an incident playbook. If those steps are confusing, bypassed, or easy to manipulate, attackers can steer people toward the wrong action even when the content itself looks legitimate.
In real attacks, workflow integrity is often weakened by phishing, document tampering, misleading links, or changes that hide the right reference point in a file. Defenders protect it with version control, approval chains, least-privilege access, clear document ownership, and strong internal navigation that points users to the correct section. Good workflow integrity does not just speed up work; it helps ensure that the right person sees the right information before making a security-sensitive decision.
