Window focus is the active window or control that currently receives keyboard input, shortcuts, and many user actions. In a desktop operating system, only the focused window responds to what the user types, so focus determines where commands go and which interface element is “in charge” at that moment.
In cyber security, focus matters because attacks often exploit attention and input flow. A malicious or deceptive window can try to steal focus, hide behind another app, or appear at the right moment to capture credentials, confirmations, or shortcut keys. Focus changes also matter for defenders: security prompts, password dialogs, and warning banners should clearly take focus so users notice them before acting. Reviewing focus behavior is part of testing for UI redress, clickjacking-like tricks, and other interface abuse.
