A webcam feed is a live stream of images or video published from a camera over the internet. It may be public, password-protected, or embedded in another service, but in every case it is a networked source of visual data that can be viewed remotely.
In cyber security, webcam feeds matter because they can expose sensitive spaces, user activity, device metadata, and network access paths. Attackers often target poorly secured cameras by guessing default credentials, exploiting outdated firmware, or finding exposed web interfaces. A compromised camera can be used for surveillance, reconnaissance, or as a foothold into a larger network. Defenders reduce risk with strong authentication, network segmentation, firmware updates, least-privilege access, and by disabling unnecessary remote exposure. Even a simple camera stream should be treated as internet-facing infrastructure.
