Web calling

Browser-based calling that extends access beyond the mobile app.

Web calling is browser-based voice or video calling that lets users join calls from a web page instead of only from a mobile or desktop app. It extends access, which is useful for convenience, cross-device use, and quick participation from unmanaged devices.

In cyber security, web calling matters because it shifts trust to the browser session. That introduces familiar web risks such as account theft, session hijacking, malicious browser extensions, and misleading login prompts. Attackers may abuse these gaps with phishing pages that imitate a call portal or by tricking users into joining the wrong session. Defenders reduce risk with strong authentication, clear identity cues, short-lived sessions, device checks, and visible prompts that show exactly who is calling and what account is in use.
