VHF stands for Very High Frequency, a radio band used for voice and data transmission. It sits in a range that supports reliable line-of-sight communication, so it is common in amateur radio, aviation, marine systems, and many local wireless links. In practice, VHF signals are often routed through radios, antennas, modems, and software that control how messages are sent and received.
In cyber security, VHF matters because the radio path is another layer of a system that can be monitored, disrupted, or misused. A web app, helper service, or device driver that controls VHF hardware expands the attack surface: if that software is weakly protected, an attacker may alter transmissions, intercept traffic, or trigger unsafe device behavior. Defenders also use VHF for resilient communications and for testing how well permissions, isolation, and logging hold up when software is given control over physical equipment.
