UV printing

a printing process that uses ultraviolet light to cure or set ink or material.

UV printing is a process that deposits ink or other printable material and then cures it with ultraviolet light. The UV exposure hardens the coating almost immediately, which makes the print durable, sharp, and suitable for plastics, metal, glass, labels, and other non-porous surfaces. In some systems, UV-curable resins are also used to build objects layer by layer, which is why the term can appear alongside 3D printing workflows.

In cyber security, UV printing matters because it is often used in physical security and anti-counterfeiting. Defenders may use it for hidden marks, asset labels, tamper-evident packaging, secure badges, and product authentication features that are hard to notice without the right light or verification process. Attackers may try to copy those same visual cues to forge credentials, spoof equipment labels, or make malicious hardware look legitimate. That means UV printing is not just a manufacturing detail: it can affect trust in identity documents, access control, supply chains, and hardware provenance.
