User Enrollment is an Apple management mode for BYOD and other personally owned devices. It lets an organization manage a limited work scope, rather than taking full control of the phone. In practice, that usually means the company can enroll work accounts, apply policy to managed apps and data, and separate enterprise information from personal content.
This matters because mobile security depends on scope. User Enrollment reduces privacy concerns and limits the blast radius if a device is lost, compromised, or offboarded. Defenders use it to control access to corporate email, certificates, and app data without managing the entire handset. Attackers may try to exploit weak enrollment settings, abuse managed accounts, or move data across the boundary between personal and work services. Strong policy should define what is managed, what can be wiped, and which apps may handle business data.
