UCIe, or Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express, is a die-to-die interconnect standard that lets chiplets from different vendors communicate inside one package. Instead of building a single large chip, designers can combine smaller dies for compute, memory, and I/O. UCIe defines how those dies exchange data, including signaling, bandwidth, and protocol behavior, so they can work together reliably.
In cybersecurity, UCIe expands the trusted boundary inside modern hardware. A chiplet link can be targeted for eavesdropping, tampering, fault injection, or supply-chain compromise if protections are weak. Defenders look for authenticated links, encryption, integrity checks, isolation, and attestation so one die cannot impersonate or alter another. As chiplet systems spread, UCIe security becomes important for protecting heterogeneous platforms built from multiple vendors’ components.
