Time lock

a claimed delay before access to files or links becomes available.

A time lock is a claimed delay before a file, link, or other resource becomes accessible. In a leak post, the publisher may say that files or passwords will unlock after a countdown. The claim alone does not prove that the material exists or will become available.

In cyber security, a countdown can create urgency, attract attention, and pressure an organization before the files have been verified. Defenders should treat the timer as an unconfirmed claim, preserve relevant evidence, and verify any released material through appropriate security processes. A time lock is not, by itself, evidence of a breach, data theft, or the authenticity of files.
