TanStack Query is a JavaScript library for managing server state in applications through reusable hooks. Instead of hand-writing fetch logic, retries, caching, and loading states in every component, developers use it to standardize how data is requested, stored, and refreshed.
In cyber security, TanStack Query matters because it often appears in build tools, code generators, and front-end dependency chains. If a package that creates TanStack Query hooks is compromised, the attacker may influence generated source code or reach developer and CI environments during install or build time. Defenders should treat these tools like any other sensitive dependency: pin versions, review generated output, isolate build runners, and rotate secrets exposed on systems that executed untrusted code.
