A super_admin is a very high-privilege account role that can change other administrator accounts, modify system settings, and control security features on a device or platform. In network appliances and management consoles, this role sits above ordinary admin users and can usually create, delete, disable, or reconfigure them.
In cyber security, this role matters because compromise of a super_admin account can turn access into ownership. An attacker with this level of control may lock out defenders, create persistence by adding new accounts, weaken logging or authentication, and alter firewall or VPN settings. Defenders protect against this by limiting who receives the role, enforcing multi-factor authentication, monitoring for unexpected account changes, and reviewing management-plane activity for signs of abuse.
