Subscription plan

a pricing model that grants access for a monthly or yearly period.

A subscription plan is a pricing model that gives a user access to a service for a fixed period, usually monthly or yearly. In digital products, the plan is tied to an account entitlement: what features are available, how many devices can be used, and when access expires. That makes the plan more than billing metadata; it is part of the service’s access-control logic.

In cyber security, subscription plans matter because attackers often target the systems that enforce them. Account takeover can let a fraudster reuse paid access, while credential stuffing, card testing, and fake sign-ups can abuse trials or lower-cost tiers. Defenders protect these flows with strong authentication, entitlement checks on every request, device and session limits, secure payment processing, and anomaly detection for sharing or resale. A well-designed subscription plan reduces unauthorized access without blocking legitimate users.
