Subject fidelity

How well a model preserves the identity or defining features of the original subject.

Subject fidelity is how well a model preserves the identity or defining features of an original subject after editing or regeneration. The subject may be a person, product, logo, scene, or other visual target. High fidelity means the result still looks like the same subject even when the user changes style, background, lighting, or pose.

This matters in cyber security because image tools are now part of operational workflows. Strong subject fidelity helps legitimate teams produce consistent marketing, training, or forensic material, but it also helps attackers keep a fake screenshot, brand asset, or face realistic across many edits. That can improve phishing, impersonation, and deepfake content. Defenders look for subject drift, compare outputs against trusted references, and require human review when manipulated visuals could affect trust or identity.
